My blogging wear for the week

Remembering

I just had one of those moments when you write a word and you go "That can't be right. REMEMBERING?"  I had to ask my husband if it was a word and was it spelled right?
OK

Back to topic:

Have you ever played that game where you are in a bad situation,or maybe a very boring one, or something momentous is happening and  you want to remember it later on?  So you stop yourself for one second and you say remember this time one day in the future because it will mean something to you.
For example, today, a memory popped in my head like a mini movie playing - it was me as a young girl about 8 or 9 maybe?  I was in my room - yellow carpet, pale yellow walls, always on the warm side with big windows, pale yellow curtains with flowers on them.  I was playing with my dolls.  I can even picture the clothes they are wearing.  One doll was going to go down for her nap in my dresser drawer (make-shift crib)  When I opened the drawer, I saw my favorite white pants with watermelons on them ( I know,I know!) the pants were too small, but I was saving them for some reason.  Anyway, I wanted to remember that moment because I loved my dolls so dearly and I loved taking care of them but I knew I would very soon grow out of playing with them, just like I grew out of my most favorite pair of pants.  I was  a little sad and scared even,  but I told myself that one day I would have my own children to cuddle instead of baby dolls.  I do not know why this particular movie played to me today at work, because my own babies are no longer little babies, and I am not sad they are growing up because there is even more fun yet to come (so I tell myself)  Maybe it was  hint that I better do something before I "grow" out of my pants??  Or maybe it was that exact moment  28 or 29 years ago? That would be interesting! It WAS Hot.....  Sometimes I do this when I am driving and overwhelmed with work and responsibilities and I say, one day you will remember this moment and say "This too shall pass and get easier"    It would make a great movie wouldn't it?  You get told before you are born to mark certain memories, store them and you will re-call them later as helpful hints....
I'm remembering today,and you?

Random Thoughts

Sometimes it's just a good idea to open the flood of thoughts racing through my head so hear goes:

So proud of my youngest, who just got done at the Dr.  I am lucky enough to have three super healthy kids - so healthy that I let an entire year go by without sending them to the Dr and now we have to play catch up on the shots. Sorry guys..... Which as a working parent means you have to take a day off of work in order to get them in to the Dr.  I found it humorous that I wasn't allowed to schedule all three kids on the same day - go figure - I guess they need those co-pays.

Speaking on medical terms this year has been really interesting - a good friend of ours fell 30 feet off of a roof while doing iron-work, and has been fighting for his life ever since.  Prior to the fall, he was a tri-athlete in the best condition of his life, and thankfully this is one of the reasons for his recovery so far.  In addition to that his spirit , faith and family are a credit as well.  His wife is keeping a journal of his fight back and it is extremely moving as well as motivating so please check it out:

Also, my uncle recently had a heart-mate installed after his heat failed and he has been fighting for his life as well. My Aunt is on her own working full time, travelling 3 hours to the nearest hospital, caring for my Uncle, and their family of horses and dogs and running the house.  She has been such an inspiration and I am in constant awe of her strong spirit.

Both of these families will from now on struggle to make ends meet and pay medical bills.  Whenever I am having a down day, I need to slap myself and be reminded....

Not to be a total downer - on to lighter topics....

I have only 2 weeks until school starts back up for the kids. Shoes and clothes shopping here we come, but let me tell you this is the worst thing for me as I DETEST shopping more than anything!!   I'd just order everything on-line if I could.... I tried to order the kids school supplies that way, but there didn't seem to be a good resource to do that on.... maybe in a few more years time...  We lived in an area once where on the last day of school you got a box of all the kids school supplies for the following year - it was awesome!  Too bad we had to move....

I'm looking forward to watching Jeff Lewis on Flipping Out tonight - I wish he was my best friend, with our OCD we would be so good together. I think he would love me as his assistant and I know I would love him.

I'm working on plot lines for my novel - I just can't figure out for sure which direction to go in.

Today was a crazy day at work and tomorrow is looking to be just as crazy.  Thankfully I work in a very casual environment and when the day is stressful we all kind of break down and act like complete morons, laughing  hysterically, singing show tunes and making fun of each other with rude and crude comments.  I laughed so hard at one point I almost had an accident and so did the three other women in the room.  I HATE that feeling!  Then the only guy that was around asked us all why we were all standing there with our legs squeezed together.....  For some reason we take on a southern hick (Don't worry I live in the middle of no where so I cant offend you as I am "hicky" as they get)  accent when we get goofy and then everything that is said is that much funnier.  Thank goodness for the comic relief otherwise I'd have gone insane with the amount of issues we had today that were just out of our control.

I guess that is it for now, head is a little lighter now, just having a lot of randoms today and How are You?

BTW - I ask this question to every person I talk to so I'll start keeping a little tally for you!

Please Read for Inspiration

Entertained

I'm a Reality TV junkie.  I do not watch any other kind of shows outside of reality EXCEPT and you will LOVE this:  General Hospital (I KNOW, the complete opposite of reality - but my Mom was watching this while pregnant with me, so it's like a family member at this point) AND I do like Desperate Housewives. (Again, far from reality but it is fun!)  And I know most people don't think reality TV is REAL, but deep down the characters are real, they just like you to think they are acting... Big Brother, Survivor, Flipping Out, Dancing with the Stars, The Real Housewives of New Jersey and now DC, Say Yes to the Dress, House Hunters, Kate Plus Eight,The Amazing Race,Wipeout, Minute to Win It, Road Rules Challenge, Real World, Hells Kitchen, American Pickers, so many more!  Thank goodness for DVR!!
I am really excited about the Survivor Cast - it looks like they might be back on track with this one.
And no, I truly do not sit in front of the TV 24/7.
I also Love to read fun, light romantic comedies (Jennifer Cruisie) and  British Chic Lit. (Loving Jill Mansell right now)
Hey - they are cheap hobbies. Some people pay lots of money to Golf, Gamble, go to the Bar, while I like to be entertained by books and TV shows....
I'm working on my novel along the lines of a good Jill Mansell.  I only hope to be so lucky!
Along the lines of both reality TV and romantic comedies are some of the great blogs out there.
So many things to keep me entertained, so little time!

Sore

This weekend is gorgeous, the humidity has subsided, and although it is still hot, it gets cool at night. All of the sounds of August are here – crickets, frogs, cicadas, birds – you name it. We decided to get our brand-new tent (purchased at least two years ago) out of the box and pop it up and have a camp-out with the kids. Thankfully we live in an area that is very “Country”. Our town is so small that we have no actual “town”, it consists of an Italian restaurant, a gas station, a post office; we just got a Subway (restaurant), and the school, which is Kindergarten through 12th –all in one building. Yep, it’s that small here, so camping out in the backyard feels about as remote and any camp-site. As a matter of fact we live near a State Park where people I work with drive to in order to go camping out in the country. Our Log Home is tucked in a nook of tall pine trees and lots of nature. You can’t see us from the road even though we do have some houses close-by, you would never know it. So we didn’t have to go very far to set up camp. (A great little clearing in our yard makes a perfect site) After a nice day of swimming and NO cleaning (it’s a miracle for me!) we settled down to camp. We played Corn-hole, cooked on the fire, had S’mores, and looked up at the starts until the fresh and nice cool air made us sleepy and we all climbed into the tent. Well, we made it until 2:52am. My back was killing me – it got COLD and damp! We all woke up around the same time, did some various complaining and agreed it would be a lot nicer in our own beds, so we trekked inside and laughed at ourselves. I tried to sleep-in this morning only to be woken up by the darn wood-pecker who is in love with the side of our house- so much for indoor comforts.
It was a nice in-expensive camping trip. I’m now on the laptop drinking coffee and about to take some Advil for my back pains. Very unlike my brother who is also camping with his family this week in Maine. Their camping is MUCH different. His RV (or condo on wheels) is nicer than parts of my house – granite countertops, outdoor wide-screen TV, marble kitchen floor, king-size bed, dishwasher, and stainless steel full size fridge! Making memories here in the country, a little sore, but happy. How are YOU?
