This weekend is gorgeous, the humidity has subsided, and although it is still hot, it gets cool at night. All of the sounds of August are here – crickets, frogs, cicadas, birds – you name it. We decided to get our brand-new tent (purchased at least two years ago) out of the box and pop it up and have a camp-out with the kids. Thankfully we live in an area that is very “Country”. Our town is so small that we have no actual “town”, it consists of an Italian restaurant, a gas station, a post office; we just got a Subway (restaurant), and the school, which is Kindergarten through 12th –all in one building. Yep, it’s that small here, so camping out in the backyard feels about as remote and any camp-site. As a matter of fact we live near a State Park where people I work with drive to in order to go camping out in the country. Our Log Home is tucked in a nook of tall pine trees and lots of nature. You can’t see us from the road even though we do have some houses close-by, you would never know it. So we didn’t have to go very far to set up camp. (A great little clearing in our yard makes a perfect site) After a nice day of swimming and NO cleaning (it’s a miracle for me!) we settled down to camp. We played Corn-hole, cooked on the fire, had S’mores, and looked up at the starts until the fresh and nice cool air made us sleepy and we all climbed into the tent. Well, we made it until 2:52am. My back was killing me – it got COLD and damp! We all woke up around the same time, did some various complaining and agreed it would be a lot nicer in our own beds, so we trekked inside and laughed at ourselves. I tried to sleep-in this morning only to be woken up by the darn wood-pecker who is in love with the side of our house- so much for indoor comforts.
It was a nice in-expensive camping trip. I’m now on the laptop drinking coffee and about to take some Advil for my back pains. Very unlike my brother who is also camping with his family this week in Maine. Their camping is MUCH different. His RV (or condo on wheels) is nicer than parts of my house – granite countertops, outdoor wide-screen TV, marble kitchen floor, king-size bed, dishwasher, and stainless steel full size fridge! Making memories here in the country, a little sore, but happy. How are YOU?
This is where I REALLY tell you how I am one post at a time. You pretend to care. I feel like someone is listening. It's all good.

In a rut
It' Friday! But I'm not ready for it. I need a few more days... Not really, I mean, I'm glad it has arrived finally but I have no plans. Other than the usual whole house cleaning and maybe a pedicure, we have nothing to do and no money to spend. I'm in a rut of normalcy. I need excitement, but NOT the bad kind! Sure, I can catch up on my stored TV programs, read all the blogs I'm following, go for a swim, do the MANY loads of laundry, but there HAS to be something else out there....
I started blogging in hopes of catching the writers-bug and start my novel but I am not feeling overly creative in a non-fiction sense. I am trying to get some followers on this blog but I feel that I need a specific focus.
I spent most of my life as a recruiter and came up with an idea awhile back for a fun tv show - What People Do For a Living. Joan Rivers had a little show recently called How'd You Get So Rich and my idea was along those lines but not focusing on just the rich. Maybe I will interview the people I run across in blogs and promote them on my blog? Who knows... but I need a plan, a spark, something new and exciting.
I did get a new work-out DVD and I plan to use it DAILY starting tomorrow....
I'm in a rut at the moment but I'm on my way out. And you?

Workday Blues
I’ve been so tired and un-inspired at work this week. Normally I am the over-achiever, go-getter that everyone despises. I truly love to work, am a self-confessed work-aholic. I’ve been working since I turned 15. My Dad who was and still is every bit of a work-aholic woke me up the first day of summer when I was 15, and told me to go find a job. He said by the time he came home from work he wanted me to have accepted whatever job I was offered. I didn’t drive of course at that time and we lived in the country with nothing close-by except a golf course and my oldest brother worked there already. I had been going to work with my Dad at his company, but I think he just wanted me to have the experience finding my own job and working for someone other than family. I appreciate the lesson now, but let me tell you at the time, walking across the golf course, through the woods, into our town about ten miles away in the summer heat , I wasn’t very appreciative. After that I never stopped working – the only time I haven’t worked is for 6 weeks after each time I had one of the kids but even then I worked from home. This week has just been tough – I don’t deal well in the heat and going in and out of a/c gives me a horrible head-ache so I am going on day 3 of a killer one. I’m trying to be positive. Maybe I need something to look forward to? Today at work I tried to be positive and happy, I looked around my office, happy for the window that looks into the hallway that looks into another window that looks into another hallway that looks into a window of someone else’s office who has a window to the outside but chooses to keep the blinds shut, so I can see a thin line of blue sky at the very top of her blinds (NO JOKE!) It hadn’t occurred to me how ridiculous it is until I typed it all out to share with you! I love office humor so feel free to tell me what kind of conditions you work in –I’d love to hear it. Over the years I have had some very interesting office spaces, and worked with some CRAZY characters – one I had to bail out of jail before the owners of our company found out and get the company car out of impound because she had gotten into an argument with a police officer while being pulled over doing sales calls. So let’s hear your stories and please, if you have an office outside like the one in the picture, or you get to work from home, could you maybe only share the bad bits – kinda not feeling too generous with the “being happy for you” part this week! ;0 – feeling a little work-week blue – and YOU?
